About the project

A multi-location material distribution company founded by two LBM industry veterans – John Askin, Jr. and John Askin, Sr. – with a combined 45 years experience in management. It was run by John Senior and John Junior, who were the company’s president and minority shareholders.

The company’s owners have evaluated, purchased, and implemented several legacy software programs used by the business during their time there. They developed a new operations management software as a result of their disappointing experiences with these various programs. A dealer can run their business however they see fit with LBM LIFT OFF, which provides them with great flexibility.

Objectives

During our first conversation with the client, he indicated various requirements for developing an intuitive, functionality-rich, and centralized payroll system that could streamline all business processes and make work run smoothly from anywhere without any hassle. Here is a list of a few objectives the client wanted to achieve, including;

  • To build a best-in-class ERP platform with improved Point Of Sale (POS) systems.
  • To automate the selling process with enhanced user experiences across all channels.
  • To track the costs of the entire system and manage them more efficiently.
  • To create a mobile app that allows customers to view products, inventory, orders, and customers in real-time irrespective of the device used to access LBM LIFT OFF.
  • To track deliveries at every point from a finalized invoice to a customer signature all from LBM LIFT OFF.
  • To enable eCommerce selling across top eCommerce platforms.
  • To show ads on invoices to let customers know what they sell and help influence what they buy.

Challenges

Developing an ERP software system and mobile app for the lumber and building materials industry with countless features and varying requirements was a bit challenging, especially because we did not have much experience in the same sector. The client had various requirements to better manage their sales through a point of sale system without compromising on customer experience.

Enabling search by name, number, description, OE number, or barcode from a sales line item and enhancing overall POS systems. The whole project was challenging with on-demand complex functionality requirements to deliver them within a set deadline.   • To allow users to access LBM LIFT OFF from a web browser on a phone or tablet and deliver an optimum experience on all devices.

Solutions

We had a long conversation with the client and took the time to understand the client, his business type, his products and services, and the most important business segments, including all his requirements prior to designing and developing the project. We created a unique team of highly expert software developers to work on this project, as we did not have much experience with the industry, the client belonged to. We explained the goal of the project to make sure all are on the same page and distributed tasks among team members involved in the project with the help of a dedicated project manager.

From developing the best-in-class LBM Lift Off ERP software to implementing overall Point Of Sale (POS) with on-demand features within the ERP software, we managed to handle everything utilizing the core skills and expertise of our team. We created highly optimized ERP software for LBM Lift Off and made it work the way the client wanted with various functionalities such as custom security settings, fully-integrated credit card processing, tracking account balances, search filters, competitive price settings, automatically adjust pricing, automating the selling, optimizing delivery process, and many more to meet the client’s unique needs.

In addition to an improved overall POS system, we helped the client build a best-in-class, fully centralized, and completely automated ERP software that met all his unique business needs and all expectations of his customers. With the client’s new LBM Lift Off ERP software, all services can be accessed from a web browser, tablet, or smartphone. The client is now able to better manage his LBM Lift Off business with improved customer experiences, providing the best services to customers in a quick delivery time.
